It’s hard to believe that September is already here. The summer writing season flew by! This year we hope to keep our momentum going well into the Fall. Both of our kids are back in school, giving Kirk more time and space to think and write. My own writing schedule (nights, weekends, and metro rides) doesn’t change much, though both Kirk and I struggle with the arrival of winter. We tend to hibernate creatively when the air is chill enough to make our fingers stiff and minds slow. All of which means we intend to make the most out of the next two months.
We’ve been writing diligently on our first two serials, which put the focus on two of the main characters from West Pacific Supers: Rising Tide. One serial follows Camille (a.k.a. Nova Woman) and the other follows Blue Star. Our intent is to give readers an exciting story told from the point of view of just one of our main characters, set in a time before the events of the novels. The first installment of each serial will be released as a free download through amazon.com and smashwords.com and subsequent installments will be made available for just 99 cents each.
The first installment in the Camille serial, Camille and the Supernovas, is just about complete. The 13,000-word story takes place in 2009 and is an adventure featuring the charter team that Camille established after she was let go from the Infinity Team (the team she joined after she left West Pacific Supers when the Governing Board refused to let her change her miniskirt costume). I’m particularly excited that the commissioned cover art, featuring a character portrait of Camille, is well underway and looking great.
Blue Star and the Vanghel Invasion goes all the way back to 1973, when Blue Star was better known as Sergeant Jacob Goldman, one of the many unlucky mutants drafted to fight demons and mutants in the jungles of Vietnam. Now the United States is pulling out of that conflict, but psychics are warning of something even worse on the way. This installment story introduces some of most legendary superheroes in the West Pacific Supers universe as they join together to fight off an alien invasion.
We hope to release both serials at the beginning of October. At that point, we’ll be turning out attention back to the Duet Sagas series, as we would like to have the free downloadable Duet Sagas handbook ready for release by the end of the year.
Thanks for reading!
